- An introduction to characters or character type
- Indication of place and settings
- indication to historical period
- information regarding mood and tone
- information on genre
- Questions that the veiwer finds intriguing ( sets up enigma)
- patterns and types of editing that will be echoed in the remainder of the film
- mise en scene and cinematography that will be echoed or elaborated upon later in the film.
The genre of the film is constructed by the use of music, The sounds and images. The sound of screams and a noise like disc scratching makes the audience feel uncomfortable giving them a sense that the genre is a thriller.
